Reflections On a Gray Day
Overhead gray clouds
below a sense of ennui
the sun is hidden
and the air feels
like a snowstorm is
coming
Walking in the city
Pedestrians head to work
and home again
Cars move slowly
Gridlock - and not only autos are clogged
Our minds are clogged with regrets
Oh, what could have been!
The city surrounds us
with buildings, stores
and sorrow
Millions of hearts beat
in time to the rythms of
the asphalt homeland
We move to the music of
the metropolis
Not pretty to all ears
but music , nontheless
We are comforted
as day turns
into cold, cold night
