Reflection in Twilight

Here I lie on the precipice of my life's darkness
    with clarity of thought
A mirror of my years lies on the surface of my mind
Below, emotions hide in the depths of my soul
I wonder, should there have been more?
And what would more have looked like
Muddled decisions and choices due to human folly
That gave me a coat of emotion to wear in every season

I stare into the abyss of my mirror... and find silence
My mind's surface is covered in ripples of memories
truths bent by graying years and passing time
When thoughts were given to tomorrow
and yesterdays were left along deserted roads
traveled by those I had met along the way

I can't help but think...to what end?
What did it all mean, and to whom?
Now in life's twilight, before my darkness falls
I allow my mind to wander
through all the dreams and wishes
    that have touched my soul
Grateful I can still remember, before my eyes finally close

Your reflection in twilight is profound and deep. I loved the mirror imagery and how it explores memory and acceptance. Beautifully done! :-)
