Reflection

Gazing into the stillness
of the water, I see the
reflection staring
back at me; sad eyes
telling a thousand tales
of what might have been.
Lost dreams and excuses
have weathered the lines
upon my face, making me
question how this could
be. Forgotten paths and
discarded plans muddy the
water as I watch me slip away
in the shallows, wondering
if I will ever find me again.
