Reflection

Reflection Roots buried deep, Deep within my soul Destruction their only mission Refusing to let me go. Seeds planted on playgrounds and Other life affairs, Their suffocating lies replacing my clear air. Mirror mirror on the wall My enemy and greatest fall. Weights that pull me down My thoughts are a merry-go-round. Words used as weapons Cut me to the core Even years later I cannot decipher truth anymore. With frail bones and a bruised heart My deepest struggle tares me apart. Who will listen as I drown? These murky waters have no sound. Who can hear beneath each tear? With smokey lenses nothing is clear. But I remember what you said This is why you hung and bled. In my weakness, I am made strong This road I’ve traveled, you’ve walked along. In this poverty, I am made rich You pick me up right out of this ditch. Every strip makes all things new You do what only love can do. You do what only love can do. By Sabina Nicole 12-10-2020
