Reflecting Man

Evening's quiet invites a solemn space
As time's arc begins to slow its expanse
Life's traveled trails now etched in his face
And mortality's senses are enhanced
Along the road his heart had been impaled
Left to hang on memories of the mind
There forgiveness was asked, for times he failed
And enduring pain to always remind
And yet, could he have known life more sublime
Chasing the moments of laughter's sweet guise
When passion's red fire wrote romantic rhymes
Read in splayed light from morning's sunrise

As evening falls dark replaces the light
And his eyes slowly close with the twilight

Very nice sonnet Fred, a man after my own heart, we did what we did, I'm not at all sure I could have done better? Passion of any sort usually has a hefty cost. Light & Love
