Refining Consciousness
Envy, anger, greed and lust,
Prejudice, malice and fear,
Symptoms of sinful nature
Make our lives dismal and drear,
Overcoming them is hard,
Although not impossible,
Give Your life to Jesus Christ,
He will make it plausible,
"Love your neighbour as yourself" -
That'll leave no place for envy,
Loving our enemies too
Will end all vengeful frenzy,
"Let not the sun set on wrath" -
If only we followed this,
Families wouldn't be broken,
Peace would reign with joyful bliss,
"Covet not your neighbour's things" -
The tenth commandment given,
"Godliness with contentment"
Will help us not to give in,
"Keep thy heart with diligence" -
To escape the lust of eyes,
"Walk in the Holy Spirit" -
And the lust of the flesh dies,
"Do nothing by prejudice,
Prefer not one 'bove 'nother",
Our relationships blossom
When we honour each other,
"Lay aside malice and guile" -
Don't think evil in your heart
Let's not be ruled by hatred
Rather, let love play its part
"For God has not given us
The spirit of fear, but love",
"Do not fear" is His command,
Let's not fear, but look above,
Nuggets of wisdom are found
In the blessed Word of God,
When we grow in Jesus Christ,
We win over flesh that's flawed.
