Red Velvet
Red velvet, slithering down my throat
It has nowhere to go
I’ll throw away the remaining crumbs of you
To them I’ll say adieu, cut the fruit that sprout from mine
Count the seconds, count the time
Clutch my throat, its paradise
My appetite inside a plate
Was that ever a human trait?
Crack my palms across the slate
Betrayed myself by staring at a veil.
Velvet fabric, oh so soft to touch, but
Parched, I'm deprived, my tears no longer enough
Distaste and disgust, sitting alone whilst i consume
My head fallen, what’s staring back at me? Food.
Crack the apple, snap the piece of bread
Shun me out to go feed them instead
Maybe then it won’t be wasted; wasted on an alien
R for the realisation that its spread across the floor
Every morsel of insolence, it hits me to the core
Don’t say you’re sorry. Clutch my throat, gag the crumbs downwards,
Sinking in my stomach, my appetite makes me sick
There’s broken grains in my head, I hear the seconds tick
Mix water with my blood, use a blade to cut my tongue
In place of red velvet, where must i belong
Beside you, behind you….alone. I won’t come along.
