Notes About The Poem

Red Roses

Red Roses

Love's beauty dwells in a long stemmed red Rose
Amidst other buds not yet in full bloom.
I admire them most when in sweet repose
As twilight intercedes and shadows loom.

Grief mingled with fragrance perfumes night air
Where within his garden red roses bloom.
Their loveliness in moonlight I will share.
Tonight, I feel his spirit in our room.

His gifts of roses not that long ago
Spoke of his love, yet uttered not a word.
The joy their beauty gave me let me know
How he professed his love, and my heart heard.

The image is perfect for it captures the musical, lyrical metaphoric essence of your words. I love that you set this poem at twilight, Connie. So often it is a simple rose that expresses a thesaurus of words. Congratulations my friend. Blessings of peace in the fragrance of twilight to you! Hugs!

Well done, Connie! My late mother-in-law, spouse, and daughter loved roses and grew their own. A thorn has always been a thorn to me, though a sweet memory to you! Aloha! Rico

The secret is to cut the thorns off carefully before bringing them inside the house to put in a vase. Mr. Lincoln, a stunning red rose, has been with us for 33 years and he is still blooming like crazy. Thank you Rico. Aloha and Mahalo xxoo

My husband bought me fresh flowers every week. They were usually different colored roses, but red were his favorite. He also grew roses and they are blooming now, hence my poem. Thank you Victor for your kindness and caring. Love, Connie xxoo
