Red Carpet

RED CARPET red carpet of kings and queens rolled out it’s the one our grandparents knew it rolls one up in a heap we struggle to understand that suffering and death are ‘specially seen in the latter years i used to be green i’d hear the thunder crack of cancer see the scintilla of light under the door i’d wonder of it but not know the knowing fills bone marrow the scraping of the bones’ throes

I was worried about you having cancer, so I'm glad you're fine, Kim. I hope all suffering from the sickness find comfort. I enjoyed reading your poem.

wasn't sure if this poem was fictional or real...it seems real which makes it all the more powerful. I liked 'we struggle to understand that suffering and death are ‘specially seen in the latter years..I used to be green... There's a great deal of wisdom and truth in those words. Thanks for sharing your insights with these words, hugs, Sara

Thank you. As we age more of our loved ones experience suffering and death…we are no longer immune. God bless!

Kim, have you or do you have cancer? I wonder because of BJs remark underneath me. If so, I hope it's not bone cancer. I think it has got to be one of the worst. I like your imagery here as regarding aging and death. As someone who had breast cancer, it's no fun not knowing if it will come back .my daughter is only 47 and she got breast cancer too. Poor thing had it in a few lymphe nodes, so they convinced her to do chemo. So sad to see her suffering.thsnkful I avoided chemo. Great poem. Kim

No, I do not. Just thinking of grandparents who carried the deaths of loved ones and thus as we get older we know how they felt. Sorry that you are dealing with this. Hugs ~ Kim

I hope you have beaten the cancer Kim. Speaking of our ancestors Kim, you commented on my poem "song of the River's Daughter' and said that you were born in Buffalo New York, so was I! Anyway, your poem, the red carpet of kings and queens rolled out, they roll us up like a heap. Same here, my dad's family was of 'noble decent' and cancer took my grandfather as well as my dad. It would be strange if we were somehow related! I love your poem, it is mysterious and yet understandable. A great! <3

No cancer just relatives that have had it. It would be funny if we are related somehow ;)
