Red
Red
Dark red
For years all locked up in a cage
Never even looked at
Fear of what it could do
What it could do if I ever let it out
The key hidden away so deep it was almost forgotten
Buried in the hopes of locking the red away forever
Full of fear that the thick black bars were the only things holding the swirling red back
Then suddenly an interruption let slip some of it
A little red appeared on someone else's behalf
The injustice done turned an unexpected key
Their wound tore open a scar of mine
More and more drops of red escaped imprisonment
Some big, some small, but I'm still standing
Bursts of energy with nowhere to go
Can it be used for good?
Righteous red with aim denied
Old pains resurfacing
Can the forbidden colour help change the now?
Should it even be forbidden?
Red
Dark red
Not what it was feared to be
But powerful nonetheless
