Notes About The Poem

Work is not all there is to life.

Recognition and Accolades

Recognition and Accolades
(from a very proud grandfather and father)

Recognition and accolades are coming your way
Hard work and intelligence are making your day
Not much luck about it; black and white, not just gray
They must say what they need and get out of your way

When defined what's expected, you will do every bit
You'll dance well in the spot of the light that was lit
If it's there to do, you'll surely not quit
But the job is not you and you are not it

Do more than's expected when playing work's game
But don't lose who you are in all of the fame
Make time for yourself while you're making a name
There's life after work, and they're not both the same

Apply yourself fully, no matter the task
Of course you can do it, if they only will ask
I'm very proud of you, in your glory I bask
At the end of the day, you can take off your mask
