Recharged

Ride
shotgun,
by inches
a bit closer.
Been waiting for it,
this day trip to the beach.
Waves lapping at my ankles
sooth me with their repetition.
The Sun allows me to forget stress,
recharge my batteries, and keep going.

A lovely etheree that grows naturally from the eager journey to the beach into a deep sense of calm and renewal. The steadily lengthening lines echo the accumulating release of stress, and the waves’ soothing repetition carries beautifully into that uplifting final line.
