Rebirth
Awakening on this sunny morn
My eyes affixed there to the rising sun
I knew today would be a better day
Greeting the day with a smile and thanks
The recent days were filled with things unexpected
But today, the only unexpected things
Will be ones of happiness
Possibly frivolity
I am casting my past days away
Leaving them to the past
Forever to perish in the absent memories
We all have and sometimes lament upon
I wish to create new memories
But of sunshine and smiles
Of laughter and actions of hope
I am starting this new day
As a new arrival into the world
A baby born among the people
With eyes wide open
With a heart, transluscent,
So as to see the filling and fulfilling
To bear witness to the love
To the lives, we all wish for
I am strong again
As I stand and stretch against gravity
As I look upon the green grass of the earth
The blanket upon the soil
I am vulnerable again
As I open my soul and heart
To the many who may take advantage
But yet, I am happy in knowing
That I am that person
Who can open myself to another
To the world
