If I were to confess, accept responsibility for misdeeds, would my honesty overwhelm you? Would you judge me, look for the door, or would you still love me? Should I sustain loss, require support, might I lean on you? Would you guide me through life’s darkest struggles and would you still love me? When age leaves scars on body and mind, could I trust you to remain true? If my memory of you was impaired, years lost, dreams gone, would you still love me? If I were to pass, would you recall the love we shared? Should you move on, would thoughts of our life together still warm your heart? I need only to know, when life is no longer as easy as today, would you still love me?

I've read a number of the entries, and I'd say that this is far and away the best I've read to date. Every line, every stanza resonates and rings so true. Should be a big winner, methinks. Season's best, Carolyn! :) gw

Wow an appealing poem that wonderfully questions the love to convince itself of the durability of love . May your answers be in the positive poetess. Kudos for a great heartwarming poem that we all ask but yours crafting is unique. Merry Xmas. Pleez do comment my newest poem too.

you did an amazing job with this challenge, Carolyn . It deserves a BIG win. For some reason I was hung up on the four stanza thing and thinking four lines per stanza as well. I'm gonna double check that in case I am right and need to tell you that. I wrote mine just a while ago and did four lines per stanza but I think , seeing yours, it does not matter how many lines per stanza.

I could revise it to make it four lines per stanza, but I prefer brief lines -- some have only one word. I'm sure you'll come up with something great, Andrea. I haven't had a big win in a long time. Good luck, my friend!

Hi Carolyn, Such an emotional piece you lay before us this evening. Your gentle words brought me into the heart of your emotional images. An excellent, real write from your heart. Within sadness, words can sing such beauty Carolyn. I hope this poetic gem shall see the winner's list in the contest. It reads like a heartfelt winner to me. Have a wonderful Saturday. Hugs....Mike. Your heartfelt introspection is deeply beautiful and beautifully deep, Carolyn. I was captivated by your emotional imagery, your exquisite vulnerability, that swept me up and away in the poignancy of your tender thoughts. The purity of your poem is deeply moving, my lovely friend. Best wishes for a win and my warmest holiday wishes for you.. ~Susan

That was a hard time, but I would be more cautious if I were to love again. Thanks for reading, Tom.

Absolutely beautiful Carolyn and maybe a little sad that one would have to ask these questions. My thoughts are, if the love is real, if it is true then the answers to all of these wonderful poetic questions would be "Yes" followed by, "Forever I will love you, no matter what" This was wonderful and so heart felt. Best wishes in the contest.

Though the loss of a parent stays with us, we find ways to recover after finding a love is not true. Always appreciate interacting with you, Chris.

Wow, sorry to hear that Carolyn. Sadly I guess that isn't what you would call true love.

In 2008-2009 there were a series of challenges -- lost job for reporting harassment, car totaled in an accident, father died. The man I was dating professed his "love" until these events took their toll. Then it was hasta la vista. Wish it were easier to tell the depth of a lover's commitment. Live and learn, right? Thanks for reading, Chris
