Reality of the New Year
The New Year begins with hopes and dreams:
with regrets for past deeds, and failed schemes!
Though full of promise, and sincere resolutions,
some think one day, will provide needed solutions,
but alas, it never can, and never will be so,
for those who promise faithfully, well know
the dawning of a New Year, effects no change!
It needs commitment, to have bad habits exchanged
for better deeds! So, on rising the first morning
of the New Year, as we witness the day’s dawning,
let us take stock of what we’ve done and said,
then resolve to ensure that we, in the days ahead,
will make this coming year one, which later we can say,
was when we truly made an effort to change the way
we treat others, and have succeeded! Then when
this new year comes to an end, and we - yet again
declare we will change our ways? We will find,
we’ve a lesser need to make resolutions! Remind
yourself, that the New Year, is only another day!
Possessed of no power, it is merely another way
to celebrate life. Though sincere is our thought,
as history records, resolutions will do naught,
without an honest desire to change, holds sway!
So take a moment to think, this first January day,
without your intentions are honest and truly sincere,
it’s nothing more, than the start of the calendar year!
