Real Wealth
Real Wealth
by Rick Rucker
Real wealth lies not in money,
Real wealth comes from the sunny
Warmth that shines down on you,
For the loving things you do.
Seeing others needing much,
Sometimes just a loving touch
Upon their cheek,
Human contact all they seek.
If you have not had to forage,
For some food, even porridge,
Not knowing what a trial life can be,
No way out that you can see.
When you see one, in such trouble,
Your walking pace, do you double?
Or, do you stop to find if you,
Might be the one that helps him through?
If you do the second thing,
Then you have grabbed the ring,
Not the one made of gold,
It's made of brass, and very old.
Ever since we began,
We knew enough to give a hand,
To nurse another back to health,
That's the source of Real Wealth!
