Real Beauty
You see the ugly scars
I see the beauty inside
You see the struggles and worries
I see the strength that makes it worth it
You see the pain and sorrow
I see second chances in the morning
Where you only see the despair
I see the value of time spent
Reflecting on what is most important
The heart and soul – the dreams within
The joy that comes from knowing
God’s grace is always there for us
You see the grief and mourning
That comes from death’s calling
I see the love that brought life
To the soul who has gone on
The breath of joy given to those
Who know death isn’t really the end
Where you see only the decay
Left behind by autumnal arrays
I see the fiery oak, maple and birch
All of those heavenly displays
That brought us such amazing sights
Whispers of laughter in the starry nights
You see the darkness in the evening
While I see only the deep silence
Revealing soft feelings so powerful
They remind me that I have been blessed
By the kind caress of answered prayers
The happy thoughts within God’s breath
Where you see the pain that thrives
Breaking both hearts and minds
I see the lessons that have been learned
Taught by the anguish of a soul
Who knows that God will reassure
With renewed faith, hope and love
