Reachable Constellations

I waver at the star teeth
of my own invention,
accreting webs of wild light
where night trades
cold for dark
sidereal heat.

I am not here for mundane marvels—
I am here to manifest my most
daring fantasies into reachable
constellations,

grasping at the ungraspable—
drawing unfathomables to fruition.

Psalm 8:3-4, 9 KJVAAE [3] When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained; [4] what is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him? [9] O Lord our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth! Love your poem and seeking the beauty of all creation, <3. reminds me of these verses

Laura, I took an astronomy course or two in college over 50 years ago so I can relate to this metaphor. I marvel at the creativity you have. I have talents for taking things apart and putting them back together in different ways, but you describe something in a higher plane literally and figuratively. Whatever we create may or may not bring us recognition, but it hopefully brings us joy. Your writing is really wonderful! Smiles!!
