If I am interpreting this correctly , it refers to suicide? I'm thinking Michael Jacksons Man in the Mirror. Deep and good read

Dear Andrea, thank you so much, my friend, and I just copied what I posted to Sara: I grew up on a farm, and the word for Barn in Spanish is La Grange. The metaphor is that someone might say you can't hit the side of a barn. But with practice, a weapon becomes natural to those of us who have had BB guns, then shotguns, and rifles. We used to shoot our hogs and steers for meat, we hunted wild game for pleasure and meat, we became soldiers, taught to hunt humans. Eventually, we realize that death is not the answer to our problems; therefore, the final (bang) leaves it open for the reader. Some believe in suicide, some believe in pacifism, some believe in murder, and that is how the poem leaves you hanging as to what you believe. Autumn Blessings, Dear Andrea, Daniel

Daniel, I am not sure that I really understand this one. Maybe I am a little dense, so I looked up to see if La Grange Ledger was some kind of target used for practice shooting. Well, it said it was a newspaper. LOL Now I am even more confused. LOL..Thanks for sharing it with us. A lot of target practicing is going on around here now and a lot of deer are being killed. No one in my family has killed one though as of this minute. Sara K

Thanks for the nice explanation. I wonder how many people would know exactly what you were writing about. LOL..I grew up part of the time on a farm and I don't shoot guns or arrows. I would not be able to kill an animal for meat even though I eat meat, but my mother could. Sara K

Daniel, it seems if we keep distancing our actions from our conscience, we are on a suicide course, as our world gets smaller and hostilities are amplified by the hour. In but a few words, you have delivered a cautionary tale. Enjoy this autumn's day!

Dear Anaya, you are one of my favorites, and I so appreciate your comments and insights. We write poems sometimes that many do not see the depth, but that is not you. Thank You, Autumn Blessings, Dear Anaya, Daniel

I think your ledger is complete Daniel but never exhaustive, perhaps a ricocheting asteroid will have the final say; an evocative piece here, message (Bang) comes through (loud and clear) cheers David
