Random Beauty

i was so blessed today
as a butterfly perched
on my fingertips
flashing a fan-dance glimpse
of its splendorous display
as i saw my flowers bloom
here – and there
for the dogs scattered them
excavating the seed-bed
like a world war one battlefield
yet the survivors
raised their banners – splendidly
in their complexity
of symmetry
of colour
even if randomly…
