Rainy Morning

Rain upon my window
An early morning treat
Water pooling by the door
Then running down the street

Magpie sitting in the tree
Looking wet and cold
Wishing for a juicy worm
In his beak to hold

Children running to and fro
splashing in a puddle
Laughing shouting singing songs
Then joining in a huddle

Kitty cat in a window
across the muddy road
Watching yellow raincoats
From her safe abode

You have painted a beautiful scene that satisfies one's senses. Can almost hear the laughter; see, smell, and touch the rain. Magpies, those annoyingly loud 5:00 AM alarm clocks. A spot of rain won't do him any harm.:) Enjoyed arriving here, on this rainy day. Thanks for sharing, Shane!! Best wishes. Love, your friend, Mikki

Hi Carole, I to like the rain. I must admit though to a preference of being a spectator rather than one having to stand in it. Take care and thank you for the visits and kind words

Hi Cas, I remember making matchbox boats when I was a child and floating them down gutters filled with running water after a rain storm. Funny how some images stay with you. Thanks for the visit and I am glad you liked the poem
