Rainy Evening
Restless souls
wander in shadow
as the clock
winds down
We must be ready for the sky
to speak to us in
thunderous tones
Signaling the elemental
forces
which have created us
If we are
not careful
darkness will
descend upon us
Rapidly - leaving no
room for farewells
Even as we breathe
in the air we need
to survive
Knowledge comes to us
Sometimes after
a long wait
Sometimes in a flash
Cars whiz by
Creations of our technocracy
How much we have given up
to attain the life we once dreamed of
How long will it
be
Until we find
peace?
How much time do we need
help us deal with
the effects of this world
we have created
from coal, steel, iron
and all the elements which
make up this
"Brave New World"?
