Rainy Days
The drip drop pidder padder of heaven’s salty tears drags sorrow in tow
The woodland creatures scurry into their cozy sheltered homes,
Fearing the outcome of a splashable ground and a hyperactive sky
The footprints from a busy yesterday fade and the sidewalk canvas remain blank.
Until Mother Nature gets over her breakup,
There will be no today.
You must wait for tomorrow.
We can forget about the errands that need to be checked off the to-do list
We can forget about our happiness
It’s time to cozy up and linger in a chosen shelter for the 24 hours left of today.
Bow down to the Earth
Succumb to the wet, sad sky illuminating above
Maybe tomorrow Mother Nature and Mr. Sun will reignite their lost spark
One can only read so many good books inside after all.
