Rainsquall Shadows
just a while ago, the rainsquall
furiously lashed and blasted away
at the roofs and walls;
winds wailed like tormented ghosts
through cracks and gaps between
windows and sills;
lightning needled through dark skies
between the fluttering curtains
and frosted panes;
the room shook as though tossed
by angry waves rushing, crashing
against boulders;
but now, the growling thunder sounds
more distant, like nightmare that is
recalled in sunshine;
and her room glows warm in the aftermath
of it all, our candlelight shadows
dance on the wall !
