Rainbow Covenant
Where I live, there are few threats but lots of rain.
However, on yesterday, as the sun was anticipating
its setting, there was a brief threat of rain that quickly
faded. As I was getting something from my car, I noticed
raindrops on my windshield. I mentally began to expect
and prepare for rain which never came, and I was forced to refrain. This was the 'rare threat' I spoke of earlier.
Shortly thereafter, there appeared a rainbow in the
Eastern sky. It's been at least three to four years
since I saw a rainbow. I have seen double rainbows
that are so beautiful and stunning. I think that all
rainbows are beautiful, but not all are stunning.
This one was far from stunning. But it was speaking.*
Most of us never get to see 'a full circle rainbow'
because we are on the ground which limits us to a
'half circle'. Notwithstanding, we never cease to
enjoy those seven colors making up the rainbow.
Blue, green, indigo, orange, red, violet, and yellow.
What we often miss or forget is the real reason that
rainbows exist. I don't mean the scientific process that
has to take place before rainbows can form. God Himself,
the creator of the universe, has informed us clearly the
real and simple reason for them. God made a covenant with
all mankind that He will never again destroy the earth by
water or a flood. When we see the rainbow, God wants us to
remember His promise. We are reminded that He can be trusted.
