Rain In the a M

I listen to the sounds
	of rain in the a.m.,
2 a.m. that is,
	a time when
most are sound asleep.

Of course
	sleep hadn’t found me yet,
as staring at my ceiling
	or my computer
wasn’t enough
	for my body to tire
and start pushing thoughts of you
	into my dreams.

The water rains down
	on the outside
while my tears splash
	about inside.

I pray for my cries
	to be heard
by the only God
	and His one Son.

Dear God,
	hear my pleas
	for healing for Susan,
and for others
walking in this dying world,
which is waiting to be reborn
	into Your earthly kingdom.
