Rain and Sun
The rain fell down hard yesterday.
Did Your anger provoke that display?
Did I do something especially terrible?
The weight of sin is quite unbearable.
Does the pounding, relentless rain
fall upon the righteous the same?
The sun shines today so freely.
Are You quite pleased with me?
Or are these the same rays that touch the evil?
Is Your grace so great to conquer the devil?
You woo sinners with gifts small and great.
You love us to death, crucifying hate.
Rain or sun?
What have we done?
Not of our merit,
but by Your Son.
Rain and sun are both gifts.
It's just a matter of perception shifts.
Both are needed to survive.
Lo, and behold, when both collide!
Put them together, witness a promise.
The sun through the rain isn't hard to miss.
Look at the sky. Smile as it hits.
With childlike innocence, a rainbow sits!
