Radio Days

Our old fashioned kitchen ways, way before the modern malaise, those family favourite, radio days, Swinging Blue Jeans, Johnny Ray, Martha Reeves and Marvin Gaye, those sentimental songs they played. Our old fashioned kitchen ways, without plastic meals from trays, those salad days of mayonnaise, with fablon coated, hollandaise, and chicken roasted, lyonnaise, experimental honey glaze. Our old fashioned kitchen ways, mum singing songs of praise, inside that gravy, misted haze, where memories are still replayed, Cilla Black to Doby Gray, the soundtrack of our yesterdays.

This sounds like a lyrical song! So melodious and beautiful how your rhymes just flow in such a seamless manner in such captivating cadence! I remember growing up, my grandparents too loved the radio! Nostalgic and soulful poem! Pleasure reading this! Sending you light always

I love this. For me, radio was the Lone Ranger, the Green Hornet, and Jack Benny. Good memories.

Thanks Hilda. For us it was classic British radio comedy, Round The Horne, The Goon Show and music request shows like Two Way-Family Favourites. Radio was the soundtrack of meal times back then. Best Regards.

Lots of nostalgia and wonderful memories evoked in this one, Martin, although the food you mentioned was not often seen in my house growing up (except roast chicken)! Nice job. Take care.

Thanks Jim. I definitely went for the 60s/70s nostalgia there. Roast dinners with gravy at our Fablon coated dining table and listening to Family Favourites on the radio. Best regards.
