Racing Heart

My mind races but my breathing slows,
I can hear my heart knocking to get out of my chest.
Shooting my head up I look around,
Searching my bedroom for shadows, but they were all gone.
Swallowing gulps of air I realized I did it again,
Just another nightmare…
