Raccoon

Stealthy
on tip-toes
out of habit
wears burglar mask daily

I have so many of these on my porch, growling and slapping each other for cracker crumbs, and you have described them beautifully. They do seem to tiptoe!

Yes, I remembered watching them "tip-toeing" in my backyard in the daytime... and thought to myself that it seemed as if they do it out of habit (since they are so used to being shady little burglars at night)! ;)
