Quintessential Reminder of Joy
I was in a bah humbug mood this year
When the exquisite beauty of a gold ornament overtook me
She walked me into a world of snowflakes and tinsel
Sprinkling hope and joy into my feeling mainstay
Reminding me that Christmas can be more than Santa
It was impossible to stay bland or mean
When she was in the room twinkling with Christmas spirit
Angels must have fashioned this one;
She was unique, a quintessential reminder of joy
Happiness shoved anger out of my head
I rubbed my fingers across this delicate ornament
Feeling the Christmas tree, stars, snowflakes and such
With every bauble, dip and edge, hopefulness manifested
Chasing away all of my former blues and woes.
