Questions

Why did you have to leave
Just when snow was falling?
Couldn’t you have waited
Till daffodils swept the land?
Did you know I wasn’t ready
To face the world alone?
Why were you in such a hurry
What was it, calling you home?
Don’t you know I’m lost
Without you?
Have you forgotten
My Laughter?
Have I forgotten yours?
Next time you must
Let me go first.

Thank you, John, I do appreciate your lovely comments. You are right about the deep sadness. I lost my husband 30 years ago this December and it still feels fresh. Writing about it helps. I am trying to have positive thoughts for the new year. Hoping to have hope. I wish you a very good 2023! Ellen

I can feel a deep nagging sadness in this verse, Ellen, I hope all is well and this new year will be the best ever. John
