i have spent
half of my life
with an invisible 
injury
if i recover

who will i be

I try to write with that in mind, but hadn't thought of that here. A wow thank you. It's quite an awe inspiring experience living with so much grey matter. I'm sitting on "forever throwing myself away" for a while. xomo

That is a good question. A lot of time our identity is tied closely to our affliction. It is the interface with which we identify with our surroundings. Our injuries also provide us with the capacity to empathize with other wounded travelers.

It seems to me that you will be you, sans your former injury...That part of you will be gone (if you recover)… Kind of like an amputee, only much better! ~ gw

I'm so sorry for all of the pain and suffering you must have endured, my dear friend. I never could have imagined that you ever had the least injury to your brain, given how incredibly sharp and perceptive you are... Thank you my friend. I'm me to a fault, that'll never change ;) a full recovery is not an attainable goal, but lessening symptoms and regaining my life is an exciting prospect. One severe and three mild traumatic brain injuries later (and then some) I am at last finding my feet and forging a path, one step at a time towards... who I can be; yes, better for the experience. Mo mo than ever before xo
