Queen of the Dance

Friday is dance night
We all go to have some fun
We twirl and whirl and jump around
Till the music is done

He asks "May I have this dance?"
The answer is "yes you may"
He holds you close in a slow dance
It is the only way

The song is over, you turn to leave
He asks for one more please
And you agree again to be held
His heart is on his sleeve

The person you meet may be the one
Who will hold you now and forever
But he may also be a passing man
Who will not be in your life ever.

A lack of partners is not a problem
Everyone wants to dance
To find someone to care for and love
Never has even a remote chance

I can imagine the scene being played out. You are a good story teller. "Everyone wants to dance", a truism even in the larger stage that's life. I enjoyed your write, Mama Bear. Belated Happy Mother's Day! Kim :-)

This poem was sad, believable and just human enough to be easily relatable. Emile.
