Queen of Both Lights

QUEEN OF BOTH LIGHTS Ah yes....Venus! Queen of both evening and first light. Air of my breath, blood of my heart, cause of my sight. If from stardust made thee we...then, are thou our sister or our mother be? In any glint of light, a Venus shadows cast, on a planet graced with dizzy smears, all secrets masked. There...to wile away the hours as the earliest in eastern sky, or first to rise in western dusk at evening high. In all that our Venus is...true Earth to heart. She equals love, and by sun and moon, she hails our finish and our start. Goddess of beauty and love, with no satellite to follow She staves off all reclusiveness by singing to Apollo. By Edlynn Nau

Michael...no Soup Mail??? Yes, I don't write about love much for 2 reasons: I feel it's been covered and there aren't any really new views, experiences, or original slants on love. Yawn! Secondly, I lost my husband to cancer and so very young (after finally finding Mr Right) I lost him. Our daughter was only 10 and my life has since then been about survival...not love. I don't write about love!

This is such a wonderful tribute to beautiful, enchanting Venus! You have paid homage to her and painted her with amazing imagery! Bravo, dear Edlynn and a 7 of course! Pandita

Thank you Pandita! It is a tribute to Venus. I was going to switch the genre to a tribute poem but cannot recall which genre that is! Losing gray matter I guess! I'm so pleased that you were, I hope for a minute, able to gaze up in the sky and see her with me!

My favorite is the last verse. It really tied the whole theme up and left us with a beautiful image of this goddess planet!

Thank you Andrea! Isn't it true that the easiest verse to write is the first. I call it the "verse of first inspiration". The most difficult verse to write is the last. It needs to be the end of the journey, tie back to the title, AND leave our audience with a final picture. The last verse I call Final Snapshot! My Draft Box always has First Insperation and Final Snapshot lines! Now for the knitting of them together in the middle! Ha!

You are good. I haven't read everything, but enough to know you are indeed a word-smith... CayCay

Ha ha! Thank you! There is never a larger compliment than to be told "you are good" by another poet. We are more critical and are painfully honest! Therefore, thank you Cay Cay for the big compliment! I am full of words and always love new ones. Isn't it true to stumble on a new word is just a gem to us?
