Pyjamas Underneath
In his dressing-gown
pyjamas underneath
slippers gently slapping
he traverses his bedroom floor
covering the space
between his bed and the closet
the closet and his bed
in measured, purposeful strides
up and down
up and down
each decisive journey
taking the same amount of steps
his hands
comfortably curled
rest gently
in the spacious pockets
of his dressing-gown
a man on a mission
thoughts to be thought
decisions to be made
actions to be taken
head tilted down
looking at
but not really seeing his feet
as they propel him
back and forth
back and forth
is it not amazing
that all of us
to a man
unerringly get this vignette
completely understand
this compelling little drama
being played out
in a strangers bedroom.
