Putting Your Hard On

When you show a softer heart
wolves will come sniffing around
just to tear it all apart.

Once you flash perceived weakness
they'll bore through flimsy barriers
to get to the meat of the soul.
They'll wear them as trophies
while sucking the marrow from your peace bone.

Harden up before it's too late.
Add another layer of metal heart plates.
A wolf thinks a sheep will forever turn the other cheek.
But it's surprised when the pack is pruned one by one
'Cause what the wolf didn't know was that
sheep never shear themselves
but they always buff up their guns.

"a buzzard is never totally defeated." This whole poem made me smile. Great imagery!
