Purpose of Life

Oblivious of my destination,
Unmindful of my fate,
I linger here...
I was always thrilled
to glide in the air.
Now it's my turn,
but I miss the elation...
My heart beats faster,
as I descend...
Will I give life
to a withering plant?
Will I drench
the newborn flowers?
Will I plunge
into the ocean and get lost?
Or will I fall
on desert land and evaporate?
Umpteen questions
occupy my mind...
And in my bewilderment,
I land as a drop on a leaf,
where an exhausted fly
awaits a kiss...
I fathom the purpose of my life!

Your poem provides us with food for thought, Supraja. We all have a purpose in life, and there is nothing better than doing our best to serve to the best of our ability. Regards // paul
