Purpose
I've always wondered what I wanted to be
A beautiful bird that flies or a fish in the sea?
A rocky mountain to climb to the very top
Or simply a mother and wife to tie the knot
I've always said I could be what I wanted to be
Or a stationary plum or sweet apple tree
A stream that sings you lullabies to sleep
Or a scary spider or snake --- free to creep
It wasn't until tonight what I wanted to be I recall
An author, mother, wife, and Officer of the Law
A colorful shape to fight evil on good's side
But also a mother and wife I want to confide
An author of poetry --- I'll write to my full emotion
A mother of a son whom I'll love with all devotion
A wife to a man who Heaven and Earth I will move
And an Officer of Law to bring the town good news
Of all of my purposes the questions I've asked
Of all this wasted time inside I have basked
I believe tonight I answered my life's purpose
And established the starting stone of a new surface
