Puppy Dreams

He curled up
snug and safe in his bed
 eyes blink then closed, dosing
as he tucked his little head,

At first a sigh
and then a softer deep snore
then feet traveling hurrying to somewhere
with subtle soft barks from his inner core.

A twist, a turn, an annoyed grumbling
a vocal plea that all is as it seems
and he's safe, a warm blanketed bundling
 in just another puppy dream.
