Pumpkin

I made a Jack-o’-lantern
With eerie looking eyes
The scooping was not wasted
For mama made two pies
We ate them in the evening
And then I went outside
I took my glowing lantern
And showed it off with pride.

You got it right, Maurice; there are times when grown-ups buy toys for children with the aim of playing with them themselves. Thanks for the visit. // paul

You made a Jack-o'-lantern and your mom made two pies, BUT did you proceed to roast the seeds? That's the good stuff! A nice lighthearted piece. A big moment in any child's eyes.

Yes, I still do carve a jack o' lantern every Halloween. Even though I've grown up, it was a tradition that I couldn't give up!

Hi Rajat! I have nothing about people using pumpkins to make lanterns, as long as the insides don't go to waste! // paul

Well...it's a poem meant for children, and I immediately thought of Abby; when she grows a bit older she might appreciate it more. [my spell is working...managed to turn a forecasted rainy day into a sunny one!] hugs // paul
