Pulling the Wings Off of Angels

Pulling The Wings Off Of Angels

It was so hard to stop my eyes from stinging
My throat from burning
As the tears kept falling

And the sorrow lay out our centuries
Right before me
And felt so lonely
All alone here
All alone

Couldn’t help but see our history
Stupid history
Bloody history

And the sadness broke upon the silence
It cried out to the stars
And felt so lonely
No one answered
Lonely silence

And I really had to wonder as I pushed away my tears
All the broken lives of love
Are they living in our memories

You really have to wonder exactly why we’re here
Still waiting here for the blessed day
When God will say no more today
But still didn’t come today
Nor tomorrow or yesterday

And nothing ever changes
But we can count out our suffering in billions of heartbeats
A single heartbeat

No one answers in this silence
So hope is what we fool and lie with
Clinging in our desperation to a promise
Just like children
Innocent children

And my father you are the only survivor of my blood
We looked to you to come and save us
But there are centuries of proof to that failure

And I couldn’t stop myself from crying as I looked into the truth
The glory and the greed is written there in blood
Written there in the money
Written in one tiny precious life
Written there in our wasted years of insanity

Still it echoes through the silence
The silent screaming the silent calling the silent praying
If you listen can you’re hear them singing the Angels singing

Do you hear them singing

Seems we’re just pulling the wings off of our Angels
In our boredom's entertainment
Something to do with the questions when we have no answers
Still we listen for a clue
To the silence

And I couldn’t stop the burning or the stinging of my tears
As a whole world cried out to the circling stars
With a billion centuries of a single heartbeat

Colin this is very touching and emotional. I felt so many emotions reading this. It is another creative piece that captivates you in theme. Excellent. I was happy to know your son liked or loved the dedication. It made me feel good that he did. God bless him. I was touched by your comment. I know she was a special woman of great intellect. That light of love is an incredible true story. You were very fortunate. Michael
