I . . . will draw back the curtains, that hide what dwells beyond my sigh; deep within where I keep the truth in, for, past my beautiful disguise; there is a heart and soul that weeps and cries ! I must and I will- see my heart and soul free . . . LORD, how do I rid the debris? Oh, do you hold that special key (?) for, past my beautiful disguise; there is a heart and soul that weeps and cries ! I taste the dark tears of my pain, and I am torn apart inside; my wish is break the chain, where, I mourn all who have died; for, past my beautiful disguise there is a heart and soul that weeps and cries ! Oh, look into the window for my heart and soul; do I have a chance LORD- to ever be whole? my prayer to you- is to fly high before I die . . . ___________________________ December 21, 2020 Poetry/Rhyme/Pulling Back the Curtains Copyright Protected, ID 12- 1315-539-21 All Rights Reserved, 2020, Constance La France Written for the Standard contest, Curtains Of Your Soul sponsor, Chantelle Anne Cooke, Judged 12/26/20 First Place

A beautiful poem and so worthy of the win. Graceful and full of grace. I enjoyed your haunting verse. Penned with H O P E that impresses and expresses.. gently and courageously, with tenderness. Congratulations and love to you always, Gina

This is such a beautiful piece Constance, really stunning and such a blessing to read. I must look at more of your writings soon, by the way do you live in France? Your writing sounds rather French just like your name. I'm in Scotland. Have a lovely day, Gordon

Gordon, thank you for the compliment on my poem, appreciate. I live in Canada and La France is actually my last name but you are sort of right as my father came from France and my mother from Quebec, Canada _Constance

Constance, a mentor of mine once told me that the veil thins slowly so that the pain does not overwhelm the healing. Very honest and poignant write and a final question many wrestle with.
