Pulled Down the Drain

I am not sad
The day is sunny
Spirits high
Well rested
Yet my words went to a dark place
They wrote themselves
I was helpless to follow them
Like being pulled by water
Spinning down a drain
I did not attempt to fight them
No happy ending required
No lesson to be taught
Just words assembled
Not a real person
Yet still many of him exist
Discarded
Locked away
Forgotten
Stories not fully told
Lives not fully lived
Out of sight
Out of mind
As I continue on with my sunny day

Reflecting on why I wrote my poem Crazy.

I know exactly what you mean! I swear one of the most depressing poems I've ever written was on a gorgeous summer day when I was completely content... not sad one bit. It's hard to predict what will come out of you once you begin to write... sometimes it feels like it's not YOU that's actually writing, but some alternative second person that lives inside you. Sorta like being bi-polar except the other You only exists in the written form... if you know what I mean.

Richard; Crazy was good, but I'm glad that you are now having a sunny day. Don't get pulled down the drain. Good night..... Lucilla

Richard, I think I may be in a similar mood today...I just posted a free verse on introspection. Enjoyed yours.

This just makes you human. I, too, embrace the sun everyday. But, at times, it gets the best of you. You just have to release. Ah, the power of choice. Great lines here! :)
