Puff and the Soup Dragon

Dear Puff the Magic Dragon
It’s been so long a while
I heard your friend has left you
And that you no longer smile

Soup is that really you?
Yes, it’s been for ages
How come you’ve just remembered me?
How come these belated pages?

Oh Puff don’t be so bitter
You know that long ago
You chose your dear friend Jackie
And to me you whispered go

Jackie is my friend no more
But tell me all about you
You’re famous for Green Soup
And String Pudding made of Blue

Yes I pass the time away
But sometimes feel incomplete
Baby Soup and I have made a life
And we try to make ends meet

So what about your Mr Soup
A luckier dragon could never have been
With you and Baby Soup around
He must be happy with this scene

Oh Puff you foolish dragon
Don’t you really have a clue?
There has never been a Mr Soup
I only lived for you

How is Baby Soup
Does he have a gigantic tail?
Does he shout and roar out his name?
Does he have green scale?

He’s fun in a magical way
And prone to being carefree
He frolics in the Lunar Mist
By the Sea of Tranquillity

Why don’t you and Baby Soup
Take the next space ship
Come and visit Honah Lee
It will be a worthwhile trip

Puff I can’t just up and leave
For I’m contracted again
Another series of the Clangers
Will force me to remain

But I haven’t seen you in so long
And Jackie Paper comes no more
And I am now all alone
And I’ve ceased my fearless roar

Oh Puff you silly Dragon
You can still roar out your name
Why don’t you come fly out here
And your Magic you can reclaim

Okay, it doesn’t sound too bad
A planetary trip is good
Do you really want to see me Soup?
Do you really think we could?

Oh Puff the Magic Dragon
Who lived by the sea
What became of the dragons Puff
We used to be?

Thanks for sharing this... exposing your thoughts through your unique poetic style. Meanwhile, I greet you with the love of the Lord, expressed by John 3:16 of the Bible, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Be blessed.
