Puddle of Sorrows
A waddle and a cluck is all I seem to amount to
The years soaring through the sky without a true destination in sight
I'm lost but also found as I am a free bird, one of my own destiny
As I find a soft place to land I notice a meager puddle to quench my beak
I lean into the puddle to take a sip, I pause and say to myself "Who am I"
My eyes fill with tears as flashes of memories of what was once my life absorb my mind
Remembering the days right out of the shell, of hope and light from birth
My mother and father greeted me as my siblings and I finally succumbed to the bright world
I shake my head and just see a reflection of myself in the puddle that lay before me
I can't go back to the life I once lived and I wouldn't want to, I am on a new journey
My pain, my sorrows as I waddle around the puddle in reflection of myself, my life
I know that there's a big open sky full of wonder waiting for me
The loss of my family will always be carried with me
My tears splash against me as they had fallen from my eyes to the puddle
I am filled with relief as I can take my leave with my feathered-covered breast held high
I think I can answer that question from early..."I am Sassy Duck"
