Publishing Under a Fake Name
Publishing Under a Fake Name
By Elton Camp
If it’s airs that the writer really wants to assume,
He can call his phony name a “nom de plume”
Although less presumptuous & means the same
Is the simple use of the expression “pen name”
But the thing that’s particularly puzzling to me
Is why writers don’t want folks their name to see
After, to think and choose words, people have striven
Credit for their writing they should want to be given
If another their hard work should try to plagiarize,
They would likely react with both anger & surprise
“Why that writing was what was done only by me.
How you dare to steal it is just more than I can see.”
So why on earth would any writer want to try
To give credit to a foolish name like “Poet Guy?”
If a write is littered with many an obscene word
One might well prefer that his name not be heard
Certainly, if I wrote something of which I’m ashamed
It would make sense that I wouldn’t want to be named
But a write that’s humorous of one of serious intent
To hide one’s name I can see no sensible argument
