Psalm of Joy
Psalm of Joy
Almighty God, when I look into the night sky
I cannot see the edges of the heavens
Or where the stars rest at dawn -
The birthplace of the moon.
Loving God, wider than every universe
Hands joined beyond my sight,
You wake the dawn then bid celestial
Glory to shine inside the daylight.
And yet, O awesome Creator,
You planned for one like me
Before pulling up the world
From swirling chaos in the abyss.
Made me daughter, sister, wife and mother,
Unique as every falling snowflake,
To reflect your glory never dimmed -
Then witness life return from a stony grave.
O Lord, when I gaze at the midnight sky
I find no boundaries - no seams
Between the sun and moon –
I only see my Lord sit with me at table.
