Proud To Be An American

Proud To Be An American From the hills of Connecticut onto the plush green sod of Virginia We shall be eternal grateful for family & friends Those soldiers that have taken a hit for freedom's cost The price of loyalty that sets men's hearts free to live A precious cost by which to recieve & a servant who will give Shelter lies dormant onto it's beckoning plough A lone child desperately searching in the night The tug at the heart should light the inner spark to what we were waiting for To become a beacon of light to a much hurting world in need To the armed forces, Army, Navy, Air Force & Marines A fine line is being drawn in the sand hopefully you will understand I'm proud to be an American from sea to shining sea Merciful one come take this chip off my shoulder Stop all this senseless fighting before are nation grows colder Look above to the heavenly love with much respect Give the service man a hug with the poppie in his hand When will we ever live to understand that are nation was founded by the one True lover of souls let the truth be told a nation under God Let's be glad and salute the nation's flag from where true freedom lies A cry of the mother who soon will discover her son will be no more For the widow lies frantic from the storm outside a way to hide Our nation is one under God in which we shall serve Proud to be an American that are forefathers fought to preserve A challenge to be set free is a question of time There is a fine line written in the sand hopefully all will understand
