The below poem is a true event'
As a younger man I knew, many emotions much confusion
As I grew.' Normal in many ways, red blooded desired the
Women yet deep inside, knew? had the wish to be fair gave
Thanks that they were there, I spent some days in New
South Wales, in the town of Dubbo, some others came, to
Be there to..And three of us went out for a beer or two.' I
Think in the Commercial hotel we met? I a little late; my
Thirst to wet.' Adolphus and George the other two already
Met me at the door, said theres a beer on the bar for you.'
Now dolphus he was the oldest man, about thirty five back then? George was younger than me say eighteen? so all of
Us just fancy free.' I was invited to throw some money in to book a room, and dolphus grinned.' We managed to pick up'
A chick.' Shes all for it.! George nodded assent quick' i looked around yet saw no girl' said as much, was told shes
In the restroom doing her curls.' But are you up for what on
Offer.? I said why not? Sure I'm with you there' then in walked the
Girl..Real good looking a young one too.' An easy smile and
Friendly manner, I suddenly got a doubt about this matter!
I tipped a wink to the others' and offered to buy her a drink
So to the bar we went.' The others were sitting at their
Table back.' I said why are you here.? She answered for the party
And motioned back at them at the table.' Now Aussies are
Really straight to the point.' I put to her what was intended
In that joint.' I asked her was she a willing party.' She shook
Her head' and a tear i saw had started.Right I said! do you live nearby? She nodded, I said be still..No need to cry; I am
Going to take you out' if it comes to a fight, i'll see it out!
So over from the bar we go.' Straight to the other so and so's' I said I'll not be parting with any money' and I don't do
Rape!! Don't take me funny..Now I know you've downed a
Few beers, and had ideas but shes outta here.' You can try
And stop us if you like.? I'm more than ready for the fight
They never moved we got outside, her squeezing my hand
And still in fright, along the street turn right about half a
Block, i said is your house near.? Just along there she said
Her still telling of fear.' I said now quickly off you go.' Off she ran and i felt so much better inside, that it was so I had
Stopped a violation.' My chest was swollen with a
Protective sensation.' I never sae the girl again; two days
Later i was off again, another town some work to do.' I
Sometimes wonder what did she do.? Does she still live
In Dubbo now? A page of life in my book on what seems
Like a dream somehow '
